The Tug Valour Memorial Tournament
April 11 @ 11:00 am - 6:00 pm EDT
Tampa Bay Chapter Supports the Tug Valour Tournament
Attention all golfers! Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) would like to announce the much-anticipated return of the Tug Valour Tournament on Friday, April 11th in Odessa FL.
On the early morning of January 18th, 2006, the Tug Valour sank in open seas about 40 miles off the coast of Wilmington, NC after a torrential storm threw 20-foot seas and winds exceeding 70 knots at the tug. Chief Mate Fred Brenner, AB Ron Emory and Chief Engineer Richard Smoot were taken down with the tug and lost their lives during its descent into the sea.
The Tug Valour Memorial Fund is a non-profit organization that is looking to turn tragedy into opportunity, one golf tournament at a time. The Tug Valour Memorial Fund provides scholarship grants to high school graduates seeking an education as merchant mariner.
