Dear Fellow Alums – ONE HAND!
I am writing to you as it is the time of year when many of us think about last-minute donations as we end the tax year. Now is a great time to think of our Maritime College license students who will soon be finishing their Spring semester and starting to look towards Summer Sea Term 2024. As you may or may not be aware, the cost of the Summer Sea Term (SST) is staggering! The cost for an in-state resident is $12,995! In region: $13,877 and out-of-state: $15,473.
Now is a great time to help support our license students and make sure everyone who wants to go on SST 2024 has that opportunity. New for 2024, the Alumni Association has opened our SST Scholarship giving to Cadets embarking on their MUG Cruise. Over the past two years, we have had goals of $500,000 for giving. This year, we have added support to add MUG scholarship commitment. So, in honor of our school’s Sesquicentennial, the 150th Anniversary of the chartering of the school on April 24, 1873, and of “St. Mary’s” being assigned and arriving at the New York Nautical School’s berth in New York City on December 10th, 1874, I am asking you to donate a minimum of $150 to our SST Scholarship Fund. Now more than ever, your school and our students need our Alumni to step up and make sure the tradition of “Learning At Sea” continues for all who want to set sail!
You can easily make your donations online by clicking on the button below.
It’s also a great time to renew your membership AND make a donation! Become a Sustaining Member for only $60 or $20 per year (depending on your graduation year) – you get a hard copy of the Fort Schuyler Magazine, Voting Rights and you can then run for office!
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!
